How To Effectively Coat Your Item Using Liquitite SF

  • It is best to spray in a well lit and ventilated area but away from open windows or other direct air streams.
  • Hold the spray can at a 12 to 14 inch distance from the surface being sprayed. Spraying from too close a proximity to the surface being sprayed will cause puddling.
  • Apply at least 2 light coats (also referred to as tack coats) when spraying on water soluble inks or paints. Allow 10 to 15 minutes drying time between coats, depending on ambient temperature.
  • It is not necessary to cover 100% of the surface when applying the light coats.
  • The purpose of the light coats is to prepare the surface being treated with a light layer of the protective film prior to subsequent heavier coats that may otherwise unduly wet and damage the surface.
  • Follow through with at least two full coats so that the object being coated is thoroughly covered with the protective material.
  • It is best to apply each spraying action from a different edge thus laying down a criss-cross pattern which will ensure optimal coverage. Shake the can well before and, frequently, during spraying.
  • Aerosol solvent-based sprays usually contain less than 15% solids while the rest of the liquid material is comprised of various solvents. These solvents evaporate rapidly during spraying and thus have a much less tendency to wet the surface being sprayed.
  • Artshield, Florafresh, Leatherguard and Liquitite use water as the solvent as opposed to chemical solvents that contain ‘volatile organic compounds' generally referred to as VOC's, which can be carcinogenic. Since Liquiguard Technologies, Inc. coatings are water based, they can easily wet the surface being sprayed if the proper coating procedure is not followed.
